NEPRA raises electricity cost by PKR 1.11 per unit for October bills
NEPRA has approved a PKR 1.1086 per-unit fuel cost adjustment for August, with the additional charge to be recovered from eligible consumers through October electricity bills.

The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has approved a PKR 1.1086 per-unit fuel cost adjustment (FCA) for electricity consumed in August, with the additional charge to be recovered through consumers’ October 2026 bills.
The adjustment will apply to consumers served by ex-WAPDA distribution companies as well as K-Electric, adding an estimated PKR 19 billion to electricity bills nationwide.
NEPRA approved the adjustment after determining the actual fuel cost for August at PKR 8.2084 per unit, compared with the reference fuel cost of PKR 7.0998 per unit. The resulting difference was set at PKR 1.1086 per kilowatt-hour.
The approved adjustment is lower than the PKR 1.7267 per unit sought by the Central Power Purchasing Agency-Guarantee (CPPA-G).
The FCA will generally apply across consumer categories, including electricity consumed under the incremental consumption package. However, lifeline consumers, electric vehicle charging stations and prepaid electricity consumers who opted for prepaid tariffs have been exempted.
Consumers will see the adjustment based on the electricity units they used in August. NEPRA said that if a bill was issued before the notification of the decision, the adjustment could be recovered in the following billing cycle.
The latest increase comes through the monthly FCA mechanism, under which differences between the reference fuel cost built into tariffs and the actual cost incurred in a given month are subsequently passed on to eligible consumers.
NEPRA published its decision on the August 2026 FCA on October 7.
