PSX investor base hits record 681,965 as young Pakistanis enter stock market
The exchange added 218,894 investors in the first 10 months of 2026, surpassing the combined additions of the previous four years.

The Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) has recorded its highest-ever investor base of 681,965 in October 2026, as retail participation in the country's equity market continues to grow.
The exchange added a record 25,747 net new investors in October, marking a 66% increase year-on-year. The total investor base was 56% higher than a year earlier, according to data released by the PSX.
During January-October 2026, the exchange recorded 218,894 net new investors, exceeding the combined 193,246 additions recorded over the previous four calendar years from 2022 to 2025.
Younger investors accounted for a significant share of the growth, with Generation Z and millennials representing 85% of new entrants into the stock market.
The figures point to growing interest among younger Pakistanis in equity investments and participation in the country's capital markets.
The PSX investor base has expanded considerably over the past four years, rising from 279,522 in June 2022 to 329,292 in June 2024 and 583,052 in June 2026.
It further increased to 681,965 in October 2026, marking a substantial expansion in the number of individuals participating in the equity market.
The growing investor base comes amid efforts to broaden access to Pakistan's capital markets and attract more individual investors.
The increase in retail participation could help deepen the domestic capital market by bringing more individual investors into equity trading.
