Sahibzada Farhan leads from the front as Pakistan seal series win
Sahibzada Farhan has made a strong start as Pakistan’s T20I captain, scoring 162 runs across the first two matches as Pakistan secured a 2-0 series lead over Sri Lanka.

Sahibzada Farhan could hardly have asked for a better start to his tenure as Pakistan’s T20I captain. Two matches into his first bilateral series in charge, Pakistan have secured an unassailable 2-0 lead over Sri Lanka, with Farhan making a significant contribution with the bat in both games.
The opening match set the tone. Chasing 183 at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium, Farhan struck 89 off 53 balls to help Pakistan secure a four-wicket victory. He followed that with another fluent innings of 73 off 44 balls in the second T20I, helping Pakistan recover from a relatively slow start and post 215-3.
His two innings have produced 162 runs, making his own performance one of the defining features of Pakistan’s series campaign so far.
For a captain beginning a new assignment, contributing consistently with the bat matters. Farhan has not had to rely solely on his role as a leader to make an impression. He has been among the runs himself, setting an example at the top of the order and helping Pakistan build momentum in both matches.
However, the series has also shown that Pakistan’s success is not dependent on one player alone.
Maaz Sadaqat has emerged as another major contributor, scoring 50 in the opening match before smashing 96 off 51 balls in the second. His innings helped Pakistan register a commanding 82-run victory, while Muhammad Imran’s three wickets for 11 runs restricted Sri Lanka to 133-7.
The performances of Farhan, Sadaqat and Imran offer encouraging signs for a side looking to develop greater consistency in T20 cricket. They also highlight the value of players stepping up in different roles rather than leaving the responsibility to a few established names.
Farhan’s captaincy debut has therefore been positive on two fronts. He has contributed heavily with the bat, while the team has responded with two wins that have settled the series before the final match.
Still, two victories should be viewed as a promising beginning rather than a final verdict on his leadership. Sustaining the same intent, managing pressure when results do not go Pakistan’s way and maintaining consistency across different conditions will provide a clearer picture of his captaincy over time.
For now, Farhan has given Pakistan a winning start and shown that he can contribute as a batter while carrying the responsibility of leading the side. The challenge will be to turn this early momentum into a more consistent approach as Pakistan continue their T20I campaign.
