Wahaj Ali Is Winning Audiences Over as Baala

Wahaj Ali is having a major Baala moment. Playing the quiet, intense character opposite Mahira Khan’s Bilqees Bano, the actor has quickly become one of the most talked-about parts of the new rural Punjab saga.

Written by Faiza Iftikhar and directed by Syed Wajahat Hussain, the drama premiered on September 23, 2026. Set against the backdrop of rural Punjab, the story brings Baala and Bilqees Bano together in a relationship loaded with history, emotion and plenty left unsaid.

And viewers have been paying attention.

Wahaj’s performance has received praise for its emotional restraint. Rather than relying on constant dramatic outbursts, Baala often communicates through silence, expressions and long pauses. That controlled approach has made his scenes especially easy to dissect online, with viewers closely watching everything from his reactions to his dialogue delivery.

Actor Usman Mukhtar has also praised Wahaj’s performance, while one of Baala’s lines, “Lakh di lanat lantiaaa,” has become a viral moment among viewers.

Then there is the chemistry with Mahira.

Baala and Bilqees Bano share a long-simmering emotional history, making their reunion one of the drama’s most anticipated dynamics. Their scenes lean heavily on glances, pauses and restrained emotion, with Wahaj and Mahira bringing different energies to the relationship.

The numbers are keeping pace with the buzz. The drama reportedly crossed 120 million views on YouTube within its first four episodes, giving it an impressive start just weeks after its premiere.

For Wahaj, Baala gives him room to build a character through subtle details. His silence becomes part of the performance, while his expressions carry scenes that could easily have been written around lengthy monologues.

With the story still unfolding, Baala has already emerged as a major talking point, and Wahaj Ali’s performance is giving audiences plenty to discuss between episodes.
