Banking Mohtasib Pakistan awarded PKR 1.2 billion to complainants after disposing of 29,001 complaints during the first nine months of 2026, as its head warned that fraudulent activities pose a significant risk to banks and their customers.

In a statement on Monday, Banking Mohtasib Sirajuddin Aziz said his office received 33,625 new complaints between January and September, including 5,927 lodged through the Prime Minister’s Portal.

The figures highlight the volume of grievances being brought against banks, with customers seeking redress through the banking ombudsman’s office.

Aziz also cautioned banking customers against fraud and urged them to protect their financial information, including account details, from disclosure to third parties.

He advised customers to exercise caution when receiving links on their mobile phones and avoid clicking on them unless they have verified that the source is reliable and authentic.

Banking customers are frequently targeted through deceptive messages and links designed to obtain confidential financial information. Sharing such details or interacting with unverified links can expose accounts to potential fraud.

The Banking Mohtasib provides a channel for customers to seek the resolution of complaints against banks. Customers can use the office’s complaint mechanism when seeking redress for banking-related grievances.
