OGDC starts production from Bitrism East-1 well in Sindh
The Khairpur well is producing 7 million cubic feet of gas and 200 barrels of condensate daily, with output expected to increase as the flow stabilises.

Oil & Gas Development Company Limited (OGDC) has commenced gas and condensate production from its Bitrism East-1 exploratory well in Khairpur district, Sindh, adding to Pakistan’s domestic hydrocarbon supplies.
The well is currently producing 7 million standard cubic feet of gas per day (MMSCFD) and 200 barrels of condensate daily from the Basal Sands. Production is expected to increase gradually as the well’s flow stabilises, according to the company.
OGDC announced the discovery at Bitrism East-1 on October 1, 2025, in the Massive and Basal Sands of the Lower Goru Formation.
To bring the discovery into production, OGDC used its in-house resources to lay an approximately 28-kilometre-long pipeline with an 8-inch diameter, connecting the well to the Sinjhoro Plant for processing.
The processed gas is now being supplied to the Sui Southern Gas Company Limited (SSGCL) network, contributing to Pakistan’s indigenous gas supplies.
OGDC operates the Bitrism Exploration Licence with a 77.5% working interest, while Government Holdings (Private) Limited (GHPL) holds the remaining 22.5%.
The commencement of production marks a step in OGDC’s efforts to bring hydrocarbon discoveries into production, strengthen domestic energy supplies and support Pakistan’s energy security.
