LPG prices hit record high in Pakistan’s mountainous regions
LPG prices have reached PKR 600 per kg in Pakistan’s mountainous regions and PKR 500 in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, according to the LPG Distributors Association.

Liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) prices have reached record levels in Pakistan’s hilly areas, with consumers paying up to PKR 600 per kilogram, according to LPG Distributors Association Chairman Irfan Khokhar.
Khokhar said LPG was being sold at PKR 500 per kg in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, while domestic cylinders were fetching PKR 7,200 in hilly areas and PKR 6,000 in Punjab and KP.
He warned that prices could rise further in the coming days.
The reported retail rates are significantly higher than those set by the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) for October. According to Khokhar, OGRA has fixed the official LPG price at PKR 279 per kg, with the price of a domestic cylinder set at PKR 3,350.
He criticised the regulator over the gap between official and market prices, alleging that OGRA was failing to act against excessive charges.
Khokhar called on the government to use its Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) terminal to help control LPG prices.
The reported increases could add to household fuel costs, particularly in mountainous areas where LPG is an important source of cooking and heating fuel.
