Pakistan, Iran foreign ministers meet in New York amid regional tensions
Ishaq Dar and Abbas Araghchi discuss regional security, bilateral ties and the need for continued diplomatic engagement

Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar met Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi in New York on Thursday as the two neighbors reviewed regional security concerns and their bilateral relationship.
The meeting, held on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly, comes at a time when tensions across the region have put diplomacy and regional stability back in focus.
Dar and Araghchi discussed the latest regional and international developments, along with issues of mutual interest between Pakistan and Iran. They also stressed the importance of keeping diplomatic channels open and maintaining regular contact.
The talks come as Pakistan continues to engage with regional countries on efforts aimed at reducing tensions and supporting stability.
Pakistan and Iran share a long border and have longstanding political, economic and security ties. Their relationship has also faced periodic strains, particularly over border security and militant activity, making regular high-level communication important for both sides.
The meeting in New York gives Islamabad and Tehran another opportunity to coordinate their positions and discuss shared concerns as the wider regional situation continues to evolve.
